Tammy’s Team #1 & Tammy’s Team #2

These two teams are serious about their weight loss goals. They meet every Wednesday after work, email each other all the time and try to understand the “why” of their weight gain and what barriers they must overcome to lose weight.
They support one another and cheer each other on. These teams are not messing around; they’ve made a serious commitment to lose weight. And for some of them it might mean the difference of reversing their diabetes and taking less medication. For some it could mean a longer, healthier life.
The teams are lead by Tammy Jones, of Ken & Tammy Mornings on Mix 96.5 and Coach Gary Rollins, a clinical psychologist of Gary Rollins Associates. Both are dedicated to helping their teams change their lives and lose weight. Tammy herself is on one of the teams and has made her own personal commitment, “I’ve decided to lose weight and make changes in my life too. This is your life, not just weight loss and together we keep the momentum going. Tammy also mentioned “We’ve developed great friendships beyond the weight loss....it has been priceless, we’re not in this alone.”
Coach Gary helps by getting to the root issues that affect their bad eating habits and letting everybody know “You matter. This is your life. Are you in it or not? You are capable of making the decision to move forward”. Gary stressed how they all really care about one another. Mac stressed that “Gary really holds me accountable!” And Mary has made a weight loss chart so that everyone on the team can see their progress. They all believe that this weight loss chart is very helpful for them to see their progress and to know their weight is going to be posted.
Angie, who was on Tammy’s team, last year, lost 22 lbs. She’s more inspired this time to lose even more. “I’m making it public what I expect to lose. I’m putting it out there.” And Jennifer stresses “I can’t do it alone”. Tammy believes “This is so much more than weight loss. We’re really engaged in this journey.”
They’ve realized something important: They’re in it together, and together they have a greater chance to lose weight and be healthier.
